Gators, Trojans, 'Noles, MSU snare top pledges

Outstanding offensive lineman Ryan Schuler of Sioux Falls-Washington, SD., has pledged to the Nebraska Cornhuskers after decommitting from Oklahoma (ESPN Chat with Ryan Schuler).

Top 150 defensive back Ira Guilford of Hoboken, NJ., chose the National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes over Notre Dame. Among over 40 other offers were Penn State, Rutgers and Syracuse.

Top 150 defensive back/receiver Reggie Nelson of Melbourne-Palm Bay, Fla., pledged to the Florida Gators over Florida State, LSU and Miami-Florida. The Gators recently gained Top 150 linebacker Earl Everett of Bushnell-South Sumter, Fla., and defensive lineman Julian Riley of St. Petersburg-Lakewood, Fla. Everett also considered Florida State, LSU, Miami-Florida and Nebraska. Riley was being recruited by Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Boston College and Purdue.

Top 150 receiver/defensive back Steve Smith of Woodland Hills-Taft, Cal., has committed to the USC Trojans over Tennessee. Among many others were Texas and Washington.

Top 150 quarterback Omarr Conner and receiver Joey Sanders, both from Macon-Noxubee County, Miss., have committed to Mississippi State over Mississippi and West Virginia. Conner passed for over 3000 yards, rushed for another 750 and had 54 total touchdowns. The Bulldogs recently added touted defensive back Eric Fuller of Independence CC, Kan; and defensive lineman Devrick Hampton of Greenville-Weston, Miss.

Top 150 defensive back LaRon Landry of Boutte-Hahnville, La., committed to LSU over Miami-Florida, Florida and Indiana. The Tigers recently gained defensive lineman Dominic Cooper of New Orleans-Walker, La., over Colorado, West Virginia and Clemson; and Top 150 defensive lineman Tim Washington of Sugar Land-Dulles, Tex., over Texas, Florida and Oklahoma.

Super Prospect defensive lineman Alex Boston of Bartow, Fla., picked Florida State over Florida, Maryland and UConn, among others. The Seminoles recently added offensive/defensive lineman Andraus Grace of Fort Meade, Fla., who decommitted from Alabama.

Only days after making pledges, Top 150 defensive back Daryl Johnson and Super Prospect receiver Craig Davis, both from New Orleans-Perry Walker, La., have decommitted from Miami-Florida. Both may be headed for LSU.

The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers was Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.

Southern California, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami-Florida and North Carolina State head the Early Top Classes (Updated daily).

Defensive lineman Eric Thomas of Lake City-Colombia, Fla., will play for South Florida.

Big Ten:
Michigan State pledged defensive back Delton Ashburn of Newport News, Va/Fork Union MA, Va., who has decommitted from Syracuse. He earlier decommitted from Louisville. The Spartans recently gained receiver Terry Love of Maywood-Proviso East, Ill., who decommitted from Wisconsin; running back Kris Bush of River Ridge-John Curtis, La; receiver Irving Campbell of Lantana-Santaluces, Fla; and defensive back/running back Cole Corey of Tecumseh, Mich.

Northwestern pledged defensive back/running back Ryan Black of Pasadena-Poly, Cal., over New Mexico and Utah.

Big 12:
Colorado added running back/defensive back Isaiah Crawford of Vista, Cal., over Nevada and Wyoming.

Missouri pledged defensive back/receiver Quinton Cunigan of Wills Point, Tex., over TCU; and defensive back Keon Braswell of Miami-Norland, Fla., who decommitted from Rutgers.

Oklahoma State added receiver Chijuan Mack of Baton Rouge-Woodlawn, La., who decommitted from Tulane.

ACC:
Offensive lineman Woodly Telfort of Dodge City CC, Kan., committed to Clemson over Florida, South Carolina, Southern Mississippi and Central Florida. The Tigers recently gained receiver/defensive back Robert Reese of Temple, Ga., and tight end Zach Green of Conyers-Salem, Ga. Defensive lineman Anthony McDaniel of Columbia-Keenan, SC., is no longer committed to Clemson and is looking at the Tigers, South Carolina and Tennessee.

SEC:
Arkansas pledged offensive lineman Jeremy Palmoore of Memphis-Hamilton, Tenn., over South Carolina, Memphis, Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State; and quarterback Robert Johnson of Waco, Tex., over Kansas State.

Kentucky pledged linebacker/defensive lineman Jan Jorgenson of Price-Carbon, Utah, who decommitted from Utah; and tight end/defensive lineman Eric Scott of Woodstock-Etowah, Ga., over Vanderbilt and East Carolina.

Conf-USA:
Memphis gained linebacker Quinton McCrary of Columbua, Miss.

Louisville has commitments from tight end Wayne Riles of Albany/Deerfield-Windsor, Ga; and defensive lineman William Gay of Tallahassee-Rickards, Fla. The Cards recently gained defensive lineman Josh Williams of Cedartown, Ga., and tight end Thomas Boyce of Dacula, Ga.

Sun Belt:
Receiver/defensive back Emmanual Harrell of LaGrange, Ga; and defensive lineman Kwam Williams of Atlanta-Westlake, Ga., who decommitted from Troy State, are headed to Middle Tennessee State.

Arkansas State pledged receiver/defensive back Fred Brown of Dallas-Lincoln, Tex.

WAC:
Defensive back/athlete Jeff Wells of Lakewood-Lakes, Wash., chose Nevada.

Hawaii pledged offensive lineman Xavier Hoolulu of Kailua, Hawaii. The Warriors recently added defensive back/receiver Ray Bass of Corona-Centennial, Cal., over Arizona, California, Colorado State and Kansas; linebacker Daniel Tautofi of Honolulu-Kaimuki, Hawaii, and offensive lineman Larry Sauafea of American Somoa, who drew interest from Oregon and USC.

Rice pledged defensive lineman Jonathan Cary of Palestine, Tex., who decommitted from Baylor. The Owls recently added linebackers Buck Casson of Pontiac, Ill., over Kansas State, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan; and Landon Johnson of Kennedale, Tex., over interest from Stanford.

Mountain West:
Linebacker/running back Matt Ah You of Highland-Long Peak, Utah, has pledged to BYU over Hawaii and Utah.

Utah added linebacker Reza Williams of San Bernardino Valley CC, Cal; quarterback/athlete Marcus Johnson of Los Angeles-Locke, Cal., over UNLV; and defensive lineman Tony Castaldi of Ventura-St. Bonaventure, Cal.

Pac-10:
Defensive lineman Wilson Afoa of Honolulu-St. Louis, Hawaii, picked Washington over Washington State, Utah and Hawaii.

Receiver Brandon Powers of Los Angeles-Franklin, Cal., has chosen the Oregon State Beavers over Michigan State, San Diego State and San Jose State.

Arizona State has defensive back/receiver Josh Barrett of Reno, Nev., over Nevada and Rice. The Sun Devils recently added offensive lineman Brandon Rodd of Aiea, Hawaii.
