Monday, December 23 'Canes, Buckeyes, Horns receive commitments By Bill Hodge CollegeSports.com |

Two Top 150 prospects, defensive lineman Nate Robinson of Irvington, NJ., and offensive lineman Andrew Bain of Pompano Beach-Ely, Fla., have committed to Miami-Florida. Robinson had over 50 offers, headed by Rutgers, Syracuse, North Carolina and Maryland. Bain also considered Florida State. Among many others were North Carolina State, Ohio State and Stanford.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have pledged Top 150 defensive back Donte Whitner of Cleveland-Glenville, Ohio, over Miami-Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC; teammate Super Prospect defensive back Dareus Hiley, over Miami-Florida, Michigan, USC and Wisconsin; and Super Prospect defensive linemen Brandon Maupin of West Chester-Lakota West, Ohio, over Pittsburgh and Boston College.
One of the nation's top tight end prospects, Tony Hills of Alief-Elsik, Tex., pledged to the Texas Longhorns over Oklahoma, Colorado, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, Tennesse and Texas Tech, among many others.
Outstanding junior college defensive back James Griffin of Memphis-East, Tenn/Pasadena CC, Cal., announced for Virginia Tech over LSU.
Top 150 running back Jason Evans of Kennesaw-Harrison, Ga., decommitted from Penn State for Stanford.
Maryland gained outstanding defensive lineman Conrad Bolston of Washington, DC-St. John's Prep, over Boston College, Ohio State, Florida and Penn State. The Terps recently gained offensive lineman Robert Jenkins of Nassau CC, NY., who decommitted from Virginia; and offensive lineman Andrew Crummey of Van Wert, Ohio, over Boston College and Wake Forest.
The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers is Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.
Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, USC, South Carolina and Miami-Florida head the Early Top Classes.

Tight end Chris Rudanovic of Sussex-High Point, NJ., committed to Indiana over Purdue. The Hoosiers recently gained running back Kenni Burns of Springfield-Sacred Heart Griffin, Ill., defensive back Aaron Mitchell of South Holland-Thornwood, Ill; offensive lineman Corey Hilliard of New Orleans-Jesuit, La; tight end Brian Faires of Indianapolis-Ben Davis, Ind; and offensive lineman Paul Hearn of Calgary-Champagne Regional, Alberta.
Big 12:
Linebacker Corey McKeon of Naperville-North, Ill., chose Nebraska over Illinois, South Carolina, Purdue and Miami-Ohio, among others.
Kansas gained defensive back Taurance Rawls of Garland, Tex., over interest from Kansas State, UTEP, Texas Tech, Houston and Louisville.
Kansas State pledged offensive lineman Tom Robinson of Cerritos CC, Cal., who also had interest from San Diego State. The Wildcats recently signed top junior college defensive backs Cedrick Williams and Corey Reddick, both from Garden City CC. Reddick had decommitted from Iowa.
Baylor added linebacker Jon Michael Morgan of Shreveport-Evangel, La., over Arkansas and Louisiana Tech.
Tight end James Wright of Houston-Spring Woods, Tex/Kilgore CC, Tex., committed to Iowa State. The Cyclones recently gained Top 150 defensive back Brandon Owens of Delray Beach-Atlantic, Fla.
Big East:
Syracuse pledged receiver Landel Bembo of Tallahassee-Godby, Fla., over Indiana and Central Florida; and running back/defensive back Jeremy Sellers of Rawlings-Allegany, Md/Fork Union MA, Va.
ACC:
Wake Forest pledged offensive lineman Brodie Overstreet of Danville-Boyle County, Kty., and receiver Travo Woods of Longwood-Lyman, Fla.

TCU pledged linebacker Chase Ortiz of League City-Clear Creek, Tex., over Missouri, Iowa State and Houston; and offensive lineman Will Oliver of Lindale, Tex., who earlier decommitted from Texas A&M. The Horned Frogs recently gained quarterback Chad Huffman of Sugar Land-Elkins, Tex., over interest from New Mexico and Pittsburgh.

WAC:
Rice added linebacker Garrett Dornon of Bellville, Tex; and running back Marcus Rucker of Magnolia, Ark., over Missouri, Arkansas State and Tulsa. The Owls recently gained running back John Wall of Dallas-Jesuit Prep, Tex., over Purdue, Northwestern and Navy.

Colorado State pledged defensive lineman Blake Smith of Tulsa-Union, Okla., over UCLA; defensive lineman/tight end Jesse Nading of Highlands-Thunder Ridge, Colo; running back Adam Gabriel of Monrovia, Cal., over Wisconsin; and offensive lineman Robbie Heos of Pearland, Tex.

Washington has pledges from receiver/defensive back Charles Smith of LaMesa-Helix, Cal., over Oregon, Arizona State and Arizona; defensive back Clarence Simpson of Sylmar, Cal; defensive back/linebacker/receiver Chris Hemphill of Gardena-Serra, Cal., and receiver Sonny Shackelford of Beverly Hills, Cal.
California pledged defensive back Daymeion Hughes of Los Angeles-Crenshaw, Cal., and has a soft verbal from defensive back/receiver Thomas Decoud of Pinole Valley, Cal.
Running back Yvenson Bernard of Boca Raton, Fla., picked Oregon State.
Defensive lineman Ray Tago of Long Beach-Poly, Cal/Long Beach CC, Cal., is headed to Oregon. He originally signed with USC as a prep, but did not qualify.
