Considered the nation's top center prospect, offensive lineman Jordy Lipsey of Altamonte Springs-Lake
Brantley, Fla., has chosen Virginia over Miami-Florida. Among many
others were Stanford, Florida State, Florida and Tennessee.
Virginia Tech has a soft commitment from
defensive lineman Carlton Powell of Chesapeake-Great
Bridge, Va., over interest from Virginia, East Carolina, Maryland and North
Carolina.
Arkansas has withdrawn its offer to
345-pound offensive lineman Kharylake Martin of Dayton, Tex. He is
now considering LSU, SMU, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among others.
The Wisconsin Badgers pledged
receiver/defensive back Ernest Mason of Fort Worth-Dunbar,
Tex., over Oklahoma, Arkansas, LSU, Iowa, Texas Tech, Kansas and Vanderbilt,
among others. Mason has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.3 seconds. He
has run the 100 meters in 10.2 and 200 in 20.9.
Receiver Seth Fogerty of Morgantown, WVa.,
committed to UConn over Penn State, UCLA, West
Virginia and Marshall. He caught 74 passes for 1094 yards as a junior.
