Leonard Hamilton have a commitment from one of the nation's top basketball
prospects in forward/guard Vakeaton (Von) Wafer of
Cleveland-Heritage Christian, Tex.
Wafer also considered Arkansas, Indiana, Texas and Charlotte, among many
others. The Seminoles recently gained touted forward/center Diego Romero of Argentina/Lon
Morris College, Tex., over Indiana, Texas Tech and Kentucky.
Memphis, Mississippi State, California, Louisville, Michigan State,
Michigan, Florida, LSU, Illinois and Oklahoma lead the Early Top
Classes.

Iowa State has a pledge from
forward/guard Justin Holt of Tacoma-Lincoln,
Wash/Tacoma CC, Wash. Holt, who averaged 22 points as a prep senior, signed
with Oregon State in Class 2002, but requested a scholarship release
following a coaching change. The Cyclones recently gained a commitment from
guard Curtis Stinson of Bronx-Regional,
NY/Winchendon School, Mass., over Drexel.
Center/forward Leonard Harden of Detroit-Ferndale,
Mich/Garden City CC, Kan., committed to Miami-Florida over UNLV, Pittsburgh,
Auburn and Texas A&M. He originally signed with Duquesne as a prep.
Guard Spencer Laurie of
Springfield-Kickapoo, Mo., has chosen Missouri over Minnesota, North Carolina
State and Southwest Missouri State.
Top 100 guard Mustafa Shakur of Wynnewood-Friends
Central, Pa., is expected to chose between Arizona and North Carolina State
on Tuesday (Oct. 8).
Forward Omari Westley of East
Cleveland-Shaw, Ohio/Wabash Valley CC, Ill/Barton County CC, Kan., has
enrolled at Cleveland State and will sit out the
current season to work on academics.
Forward Michael Rembert of Chicago-St.
Rita, Ill., has verballed to Bradley over Southern Illinois and
Chicago-Loyola. The Braves recently gained forward Marcellus Sommerville of
Peoria-Central, Ill/Iowa/Iowa Western CC, Ia., who redshirted as a freshman
at Iowa last season; and guard J.J. Tauai of Verona, Mo.
Mount St. Mary's has a pledge from
guard Mychal Kearse of
Charlotte-Providence Day, NC.
Middle Tennessee State has pledges from
guard Bryan Smithson of Kennesaw-North
Cobb, Ga; guard Ben Britt of Chattanooga-Red Bank,
Tenn; and forward Kenyona Swader of Smyma, Tenn.
Chattanooga has commitments from guard
Casey Long of
Fayetteville-Seventy-First, NC., and forward Matt Malone of Greenville, Tenn.
