Top 100 guard/forward twins Lodrick and Rodrick Stewart of Seattle-Rainier Beach, Wash., have chosen the USC Trojans over Washington.
The twins and their father had been quoted on Sunday morning by the Seattle Times that the prospects were headed to Washington. A televised announcement was held that evening.
Washington earlier added a commitment from guard Tre Simmons of Seattle-Garfield, Wash./Odessa CC, Texas, who decommitted from South Alabama. Senior guard Josh Barnard of Tacoma-Bethel, Wash./Tacoma CC, Wash., will transfer from Washington to Eastern Washington. Washington is currently being investigated by the NCAA for possible recruiting violations over the past four months after allegations by coaching staffs from Gonzaga, Eastern Washington and Washington State. Top 100 guard Marcus Williams of Los Angeles-Crenshaw, Calif./Oak Hill Academy, Va., has committed to Connecuticut over Georgia Tech. He averaged 26 points and 10 assists for Crenshaw as a junior. Guard Nick Williams of Arlington-Mansfield, Texas/Kansas State/Chipola CC, Fla., committed to Cincinnati over Baylor, Auburn and Oklahoma. He averaged nine points while starting 25 of 29 games as a true freshman at Kansas State.
Junior guard Dennis Trammell Chicago-Westinghouse, Ill., will transfer from New Mexico State to Ball State and will redshirt the 2002-03 season. He averaged 8.1 points and 3.8 assists as a sophomore. Ball State recently pledged Class 2003 guard Peyton Stovall of Lafayette-Jefferson, Ind., over Evansville and Wright State.
Guard Blake Ahearn of Creve Coeur-De Smet Jesuit, Mo., committed to Southwest Missouri State.
Forward P.J. Hatcher of Lewisville, Texas, signed with Maryland-Baltimore County.
Redshirt freshman walk-on guard Scott May Jr of Bloomington-North, Ind., will transfer from Indiana to Southern Indiana. He is the son of Scott May Sr., who was an All-American at IU, and brother of Sean May, a Top 100 prospect who chose North Carolina over the Hoosiers in Class 2002.
Redshirt freshman forward Marcellus Sommerville of Peoria-Central, Ill., is transferring from Iowa and expected to attend junior college. Iowa recently pledged guard Mike Henderson of Waterloo-East, Iowa. Henderson, who earlier decommitted from Iowa State, also drew interest from Oklahoma, North Carolina, Arizona, Florida and Georgia Tech. Class 2003:
