Notre Dame sophomore quarterback Matt LoVecchio of Franklin Lakes-Bergen Catholic, N.J., who recently announced he would transfer, has chosen the Indiana Hoosiers.
LoVecchio led the Irish to seven straight wins and a Fiesta Bowl berth as a freshman. He was largely ineffective in his first two starts last season under former coach Bob Davie and was demoted to a backup role. Among other programs showing interest were Rutgers and Temple.
Arizona State has a commitment from defensive lineman Brent Miller of Phoenix-Desert Vista, Ariz., over interest in Washington and Arizona. The Sun Devils recently pledged kicker Jesse Ainsworth of Thousand Oaks, Calif., over interest in UCLA and Colorado.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a soft commitment from defensive back/linebacker Steve Craver of Hurst-Bell, Texas, over offers from Oklahoma and West Virginia.
Defensive back/receiver Darren Barnett of Cincinnati-Princeton, Ohio, has signed with Michigan State. Once committed to Ohio State, he also drew interest from Illinois, Bowling Green and Central Florida.
