What the heck were the New York Knicks thinking when they extended coach Don Chaney's contract through 2003-2004?

A. "That's when Spike said he'd be available."

B. "We need to make sure Jesse Jackson understands that this is not meant to punish African-American coaches as a group."

C. "With a career record of 276-409, we figure he's due to for a couple of good years."

D. "We wanted to lock him up now before it was too late. A lot of high schools have been asking about him."
