Oscar picks: Supporting Actor

Name Pick Why

Ray Allen
Benicio Del Toro: "Traffic" He made you feel like he was some grimy street detective in Mexico. He spoke the language. He really brought that out.

Tiki Barber
Joaquin Phoenix: "Gladiator" He played a great villain. So much so that I really hated him when the movie was over.

Rob Dibble
Willem Dafoe: "Shadow of the Vampire" Maybe this is the year the Academy will finally realize that Dafoe is a great actor. I've loved this guy since "Platoon," and his portrayal of a vampire playing a mortal playing a vampire was amazing.

Rick Fox
Joaquin Phoenix : "Gladiator" He was a perfect combination of creepy and insane.

Vivica A. Fox
Benicio Del Toro: "Traffic" Stand-out performance.

Denny Neagle
Joaquin Phoenix: "Gladiator" Jeff Bridges was great in "The Contender" but I've got to go with Joaquin. I hated him in that movie. And that's the sign of a great performance if he can make you hate him as much as I did.

Lance Pitlick
Benicio Del Toro: "Traffic" He was intense, likeable and believable... just like the entire movie.

Dan Patrick
Benicio Del Toro: "Traffic" If he were up for best actor, he'd win that, in my opinion. Good way for the Academy to honor "Traffic," too.

Trey Wingo
Benicio del Toro: "Traffic" He was AWESOME. Almost as good as his role as Freddy in "The Usual Suspects." The man gave dignity to the Mexican penal system...something previously not thought possible.
