Hibdon won the first BASS event he entered at the Missouri Tour on Lake of the Ozarks in 1980. Eight years later he was crowned Classic champion in the 1988 event at Richmond, Va. He won back-to-back Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles in 1990 and 1991.
