S. Korea Doesn't Dominate Debut
In an effort to keep South Korea from dominating taekwondo's debut as an Olympic sport, each country was allowed to only bring four competitors. As a result, the medals were spread around, and Taiwan even won its first Olympic medal ever -- a silver. South Korea did win gold in each of its matches except one. That one went to Steven Lopez of Sugarland, Texas, who won the gold thanks to having fewer penalty points.
