U.S. plays Austria in junior worlds Friday

HAMEENLINNA, Finland -- The United States lost to Finland 4-1 Tuesday in a tuneup for the junior world ice hockey championship.

Zach Parise of the University of North Dakota scored for the Americans. Tommi Oksa, Janne Jalasvaara, Masi Marjamaki and Ville Varakas scored for the Finns.

Finland goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 15 shots. Alvaro Montoya and Dominic Vicari each made 11 saves for the United States.

The junior worlds start Friday, with the United States playing Austria in Hameenlinna. Russia, Slovakia and Sweden are also in the group.

In Helsinki, Finland faces Canada on Friday in the other group, which also features the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Ukraine.
