SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Tracy McGrady sat out the U.S. team's game against Argentina on Tuesday because of a back injury and said he likely would not play in the remainder of the Olympic qualifying tournament.
"Nothing I can do right now except get my treatment and rest,'' McGrady said. "If I continue to play it's going to make matters worse. So I'm just going to sit out the rest of the tournament unless something really happens (where I'm needed).''
McGrady was in street clothes for the game against Argentina, with Vince Carter again replacing him in the starting lineup. McGrady also sat out Monday's game against Canada and the second half of Saturday's victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands.
McGrady has been bothered by a sprained lower back for more than two years. The injury sidelined McGrady for seven games last season, when he led the NBA in scoring with an average of 32.1 points. The Magic open training camp Sept. 29 at a site to be determined. |
