Chicago fans lash out

ESPN.com

Second-most points in all of hockey and you have the Blackhawks at No. 10? Somebody borrowed Dubya's "Fuzzy" math book, didn't they?

Chris Miller

It is amazing that the fourth-best team in the league in poitns and wins is ranked 10th in your power rankings. The Chicago Blackhawks and Brian Sutter deserve a ranking in the top five, at least. They continue to beat top-ranked teams and they own the Red Wings ... Give them a break!!!

Jim Salaymeh
Hanover Park, Ill.

When do you think you'll give the Blackhawks the respect they deserve? Yes, they are a young team and they might be playing a little over their heads, but ranking them at No. 10? Surely having the fourth-best record in the league, the seventh-best power play (penalty killing aside), and tied for first for most goals scored counts for something. Admit it -- the 'Hawks will make the playoffs and prove how worthless pre-season predictions are. That aside, keep up the great work on your NHL coverage...love those power ranking comments!!

The Sharks drop one spot because they lose to arguably the best team in hockey? Your comment was even worse: "A 3-0 loss to Detroit wasn't the best way to end a franchise record six-game road winning streak." What would have been the best way to end it for you communists: Have the Sharks lose to Columbus?

Manny Limjuco
San Jose, Calif.

Let me get this straight: The Predators go unbeaten in seven straight games and move up two spots? Am I missing something here? What do you have to do to move up in your pathetic rankings? Lose? Just think, all we have to do is win the next seven in a row and we can move up two spots to 20th!!! I can't wait!! At this rate we would have to win out to be in the top five.

Chris Pappas

Interpretation of your top five:
1. Old
2. Tenacious
3. Classic
4. Youth
5. Bullies

How it should be:
1. Tenacious
2. Youth
3. Classic ...
10. Old ...
30. Bullies

I understand giving the aging some respect, but there is more to admire in the spirit of the Avs than in the greed of the Red Wings. And there's no room for Bullies. The Flyers should be competing in a rugby league. Then they could put their meanness to use where it's wanted.

Is it possible you guys are using the BCS computers to formulate the Power Rankings? No team, on this planet anyway, should be ranked ahead of the Avs right now. The defending Cup champions and undoubtedly the hottest team in the league should be No. 1, hands down. Fortunately for us fans, unlike in college football, there is a playoff to determine the champs. And I have no doubt that Detroit will fade as the season progresses and Colorado will continue their winning ways. And should Peter Forsberg make a return, it's all over but the crying.

How can you consistantly rank the Blues in the top 15 teams. They are one of the worst teams in the Western Conference and their goaltending stinks. Larry Pleau has turned this team into what the Rangers were last year -- a lot of overpriced superstars with no heart.

Daniel
St. Louis

Finally, (though no fault of yours) the Flyers are making their move toward the top of the rankings where they belong. HEY Rangers fans -- don't even start whining...we know you are in first place in the division, but you've played five more games than the Flyers. The fall from grace begins now.

Chris
Philadelphia

As stated in the rankings: "With four of their defensemen headed to Salt Lake City, their (Toronto's) upcoming sweep through the Southleast Division is the perfect time to stockpile some points." Well, the South"l"east Division leading Carolina Hurricanes (No. 14) sort of put a kink (4-3) in that statement for the Toronto Maple Leafs (No. 3). Move the 'Canes up and send Jeff O'Neill to the Olympics.

Eddie Beiles
Kernersville, N.C.

How can you rank Columbus ahead of Atlanta? Only an idiot would think that two more wins means Columbus is better. Actually, I'm just kidding. I really don't care. Had you going though, didn't I?
