These aren't your father's Islanders. They aren't even your older brother's.
They're Mike Milbury's.
Milbury was hired as head coach of the Islanders on July 5, 1995. Fewer than six months later, on Dec. 12, he received the additional duties of general manager. Since then, Milbury has signed, acquired, drafted or plucked from waivers every player on the current roster. In fact, not a single player remains from the 1994-95 Islanders team -- the team that started the franchise's current, seven-year playoff drought. Only Swedish defenseman Dick Tarnstrom, who was drafted in 1994 but didn't join the team until this season, remains from the pre-Milbury regime.
