Coyotes sale still ugly

By Brian A. Shactman
ESPN.com

As of 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to a group headed by Wayne Gretzky and businessman Steve Ellman still hadn't been finalized. According to the league, no timetable had been set for its completion and the further delay was not a major concern.

"They're working hard to get it done," said league vice president of media relations Frank Brown. "They're working on a whole bunch of details attendant to a mulimillion, multi-investor transaction."

Ellman reportedly traveled to New York on Wednesday to complete the sale, then planned to travel to Raleigh, N.C., to meet Gretzky and address the team in advance of Friday's game against the Hurricanes.
