Beezer rebounds in big way

ESPN.com

Hockey is a game of streaks, and there are always numerous players and teams constantly moving in one direction or another.

Each week, ESPN.com chooses three of the hottest and three of the coldest players in the league. The numbers never lie. These guys aren't alone, but we think they're the ones you want to know about.

WHO'S HOT
John Vanbiesbrouck
John Vanbiesbrouck
Philadelphia
4 GS, 4-0-0, 0.50 GAA, 3 shutouts
For some reason, the Beezer was criticized quite a bit during the Flyers' early troubles. But no more. He hasn't allowed a goal in more than 200 minutes and has made 76 consecutive saves.
Pierre Turgeon
Pierre Turgeon
St. Louis
3 GM, 3 G, 3 A, plus-4
With Geoff Courtnall injured, Turgeon stepped up and led the Blues to three consecutive wins.
Cliff Ronning
Cliff Ronning
Nashville
2 GM, 1 G, 4 A, plus-3
The Predators are over .500 for the first time ever. Goalie Mike Dunham has a lot to do with it, but so does Ronning, who sparked the offense in two wins last week.

WHO'S NOT
Guy Carbonneau
Guy Carbonneau
Dallas
2 GM, 0 G, 0 A, 2 shots
He isn't a front-line player anymore, and he only scored four goals last season. But Carbonneau is a minus-3 for the season, and his only real proof that he's played 10 games thus far is one penalty and 10 shots.
Theo Fleury
Theo Fleury
N.Y. Rangers
4 GM, 0 G, 1 A, minus-4
After scoring twice in a 4-1 win over Atlanta, Fleury went in the tank, and so did the Rangers.
Bill Lindsay
Bill Lindsay
Calgary
3 GM, 0 G, 0 A, minus-1
Lindsay has never been a great offensive player, but he needs to produce more than one point in 10 games. He still may be disappointed about getting traded from Florida, but he's on pace to score fewer than 10 goals for the first time since '93-94.
