His hands: I would not consider him a handsy goalie, more of a blocker of the puck. It's all about positioning. His feet: Pretty good for a big guy. Can get down on the butterfly pretty quick and take away the low part of the net. Has to be square to the shooter. His stick: Playing the puck is not one of his strengths and pokechecking rarely comes into play for him. His technique: Plays a big man's butterfly and uses percentages. Every move has a purpose. Not a very good scrambler in the crease.
Curtis Joseph, Toronto
His hands: Broken. Glove hand, that is. Will this be a factor? Last year it was his stick hand, which can be worse. Has quick hands and great hand-eye coordination. His feet: Quick feet and reaction to the low shots. Has quick-twitch reflexes, tough to beat him in close. His stick: He shoots right but holds his stick with his right, forcing him to "flip" his stick over. His hand will give him problems, I'm sure. May be more conservative with his backhand flipper. His technique: Stays deep in his net, daring you to shoot and relying on his quickness. He varies his technique, sometimes Hasek-like and sometimes Brodeur-esque. You never know.
