Tuesday, April 30 Updated: April 30, 10:07 AM ET Islanders might have Jonsson back in lineup ESPN.com news services Kenny Jonsson's gear was packed Monday and brought with the rest of the New York Islanders' equipment to Toronto for tonight's Game 7 against the Maple Leafs, Newsday reported. So while the Islanders are being coy about whether Jonsson will return for the finale of this heated series, it seems he might have been deemed healthy enough to return to the lineup. Jonsson suffered a concussion and a neck strain after a hit by the Leafs' Gary Roberts in Game 5. Asked if he would be back for tonight's game, Islanders coach Peter Laviolette played ignorant, Newsday reported. "I have no idea," he said. Laviolette announced after Game 5 that Jonsson was "lost for the year." But suddenly the coach wasn't as definite about the defenseman's status. Nor was he on anyone's status, including Brad Isbister (sprained wrist) or Jason Blake, who was knocked out of Game 6 after a hard, blindside hit from Travis Green. "I've got to check on the health of some people," Laviolette said. "Some people may become available. I can't answer that yet." |
