Corson avoids suspension, fined $1,000

NEW YORK -- Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Shayne Corson has been fined $1,000, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for a high sticking incident against New York Islanders forward Dave Scatchard during Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series at Toronto, April 18.

The incident occurred at the 20:00 mark of the third period, Corson was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure on the play.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
