What Carolina did...
What Detroit didn't do... Carolina is a pretty good 5-on-5 team, so if anything the penalties hurt Carolina more than Detroit. I was surprised there were so many penalties. I thought the refs would let them play a little more. If anything, the Red Wings had that power play at the end of regulation and they couldn't get it done. That was their opportunity. So, if anything, the penalties in the final analysis presented an opportunity for Detroit to win in regulation.
