PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- Dominik Hasek will not be charged for hurting a player during an inline hockey game.

There was no evidence Hasek caused bodily harm to Martin Sila during a game in May, prosecutor Lenka Strnadova said. Strnadova did not say how she reached her decision, but she ordered that the case be treated as a misdemeanor.

Hasek faces a maximum fine of about $105.

"I am glad the whole matter is over, and I can fully concentrate on ... the forthcoming hockey season,'' Hasek said in a statement Friday.

Police recommended last month that the Detroit Red Wings' goaltender face criminal charges for injuring Sila, who was hospitalized for three days. Police based their recommendation on eyewitness accounts and medical records.

Police began investigating Hasek after a May 18 game in Pardubice. Hasek, playing for Bonfire Strida, collided with Martin Sila of SK Pardubice. According to media reports, Hasek knocked Sila down with a crosscheck to the back, sat on him and hit him in the neck several times with his stick.

Sila can appeal Strnadova's decision, which can be overruled by the country's supreme prosecutor.

Hasek is a six-time Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL's best goalie and two-time Hart Trophy winner as the league's most valuable player. He won an Olympic gold medal in 1998.

He retired from the NHL in 2002, after leading the Red Wings to a Stanley Cup title, and lives in the Czech Republic.

Several weeks after the inline game, Hasek announced he was coming out of retirement and returning to Detroit.
