Boston Bruins defenseman Jonathan Girard is in the hospital with an injured pelvis after being involved in a car accident Thursday morning near Joliette, Quebec, according to a TSN.ca report.

Police say Girard's car went over a guard rail and rolled into a ditch, according to TSN. Two other passengers were in the vehicle. Police do not believe alcohol was involved in the incident.

Girard, 23, played his first full NHL season with the Bruins last year, recording six goals and 16 assists in 73 games. He has 10 goals and 34 assists in 150 games in three seasons with the team.

He signed a one-year contract with the team July 15.
