Hunter rejoins Wilson, this time in San Jose

Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Tim Hunter was hired by the San Jose Sharks as an assistant coach on Friday, rejoining new coach Ron Wilson.

Hunter was an assistant to Wilson in Washington during the previous five seasons, and he joined the Capitals' player development staff when Wilson was fired last May.

Hunter joins Rob Zettler, named an assistant coach on Thursday, on the Sharks' new staff following the firings of Darryl Sutter and assistants Rich Preston and Lorne Molleken last Sunday.

Hunter played for 16 NHL seasons, winning a Stanley Cup with Calgary in 1989. He is fifth in league history with 3,146 penalty minutes in his career, which ended with San Jose during the 1996-97 season.
