Associated Press

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Restricted free agent Vaclav Varada agreed to a two-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

Financial terms were not announced.

Varada is expected to join the Sabres for practice Tuesday night at HSBC Arena.

Playing primarily on Buffalo's top checking line, Varada had seven goals and 16 assists in 76 games last season.

Varada's best offensive season came in 1999-2000, when he scored 10 goals and 37 points.
