SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Center Trevor Letowski signed a new one-year contract with a club option for a second
year, Phoenix Coyotes general manager Cliff Fletcher announced Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
"We are very happy to have Trevor signed for the upcoming season," said
Fletcher. "Trevor is an exciting player to watch and we
are confident that he will contribute significantly to our team this
season."
Last season, the 5-foot-10, 176-pounder played 77 games, recording 7-15-22 and 32 penalty minutes. He tied for third
on the club in game-winning goals (three) and tied for fourth in game-winning points (3-3-6). Three of Letwoski's seven goals were game-winning
goals. He also tied for the team lead in overtime assists and overtime
points (0-2-2).
In 1999-2000, the 24-year-old native of Thunder Bay, Ontario established
new single season career-highs in goals (19), assists (20), points (39) and
games played (82). He set new franchise records for short-handed goals (four)
and points (seven) by a rookie and ranked tied for third in the NHL with four
short-handed goals.
Letowski was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the seventh round (174th overall) in
the 1996 entry draft. In three NHL seasons, he has played in 173 games,
recording 28-37-65 and 54 PIM.
