DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars on Wednesday activated All-Star
defenseman Darryl Sydor from injured reserve in time for
Wednesday night's game against the team they beat in the Stanley Cup
Finals, the Buffalo Sabres.
But Sydor's return failed to help the slumping Stars, who lost 3-1 to the Sabres. Sydor did not notch any points, finished even in plus-minus and had one shot on net. Sydor was nursing a groin strain he injured Oct. 20 against Edmonton, and missed three games. Dallas went 1-2 in his absence. Sydor has played in only six of Dallas' 12 games this season, missing three after sustaining a fractured left eye socket Oct. 8 in a one-sided fight with Anaheim's Jim McKenzie. Sydor, 27, helped the Stars to the Stanley Cup last season, recording 14 goals -- nine on the power play -- and 34 assists in 74 games.
The Stars sent defenseman Richard Jackman to Michigan of
the International Hockey League after the 21-year-old played a
pair of games without recording a point. | ALSO SEE It's no Cup, but Sabres gladly take win over Stars
