NEW YORK -- Attacking San Jose Sharks goaltender Steve
Shields from the bench has cost Chicago Blackhawks left wing Bob
Probert and defenseman Dave Manson a combined seven games.
Probert was suspended four games and will lose $33,854 of his $1.625 million salary, under terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Manson was banned three games and will lose $55,243 of his $1.510 million base because he is a repeat offender. "The league has previously issued a clear directive in this regard," said Colin Campbell, NHL executive vice president and director of hockey operations. Probert forfeits $33,854 in salary, while Manson will have to give up $55,243 to the NHL's Emergency Assistance Fund.
