CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -- Trevor Kidd came back to haunt his old team. Kidd made 30 saves to lead the Florida Panthers to a 6-3 victory over his former team, the Calgary Flames, on Saturday. "It's nice to come back to the old barn and get a win," said Kidd, who played with the Flames from 1993-97. The Panthers snapped a four-game winless streak with the win. In his first start against his former team, Kidd was at his best in the first period, making several spectacular saves as the Panthers took a 3-1 lead despite being outshot 12-6. "Kidd is an excellent goaltender," said Florida's Ray Whitney, who scored a goal. "His attitude has been tremendous, he works hard in practice, he brings some looseness to the team that maybe we haven't had before but is something we needed." Kidd, who improved to 6-2-2, broke into the NHL with Calgary in 1992. "You have to give Kidder credit," said Calgary's Jarome Iginla. "He came in here and played one of the better games we've had played against us this year." Rob Niedermayer led Florida with a goal and two assists. Mike Wilson, Radek Dvorak, Jaroslav Spacek, Whitney, and Mark Parrish also scored for the Panthers. Florida, who was without Pavel Bure for the second straight game due to a fractured finger, finished the five-game road trip 1-3-1. The Panthers had been winless in their last six road games. The Flames (4-9-2) got two goals from Marc Savard and the first of the season from Iginla, ending an 11-game scoring drought for the Flames leading goal scorer from last season. Iginla also had two assists. Calgary has won just once (1-4-2) in its first seven home games. After falling behind 3-1 in the first period, Calgary couldn't tie the game despite pulling to within a goal on two separate occasions in the second period. Leading 5-3 entering the third, Niedermayer then clinched the victory at 8:38 deflecting a shot from Filip Kuba past goaltender Fred Brathwaite, who had come on in relief of Grant Fuhr in the first period. Kidd's two most critical stops came with Florida up 2-1, when he stopped Jeff Shantz and the rebound attempt by Hnat Domenichelli off a short-handed rush. "That one play alone would have been a momentum shifter," Iginla said.
