LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Michal Handzus, Kelly Chase and Scott Young scored in the first period and Jamie McLennan stopped 28 shots to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-1 exhibtion victory over the winless Nashville Predators.

Handzus opened the scoring 5:56 into the game, Chase tallied at 10:45 and Young made it 3-0 with 6:14 left in the period. All three registered their first preseason goals.

Jan Vopat accounted for the Predators' offense at 7:18 of the third period and Blues rookie Daniel Corso closed the scoring with 4:07 to play.

McLennan, who figures to back up newcomer Roman Turek, has won both presason decisions for St. Louis, which improved to 2-2-2.

Tomas Vokoun gave up three goals on 19 shots over the first 40 minutes and rookie Brian Finley, the sixth overall pick in the 1999 draft, made three saves in the third period as Nashville dropped to 0-4-2.

The game drew 6,871 at the Cajundome, home of the East Coast Hockey League's Louisiana IceGators.
