KANATA, Ontario (AP) -- Kevin Miller enjoyed a very productive night. Miller scored his first and second goals of the season in a 3:08 span of the third period Tuesday night to help the Ottawa Senators to a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ottawa's Tom Barrasso frustrated Keith Primeau and the Flyers with 30 saves.
"I'm just happy to be here and to play wherever I can," said Miller, called up Monday from Grand Rapids of the IHL for the fourth time since Feb. 18. "You always dream of scoring the big goal and a lot of times, it doesn't happen," Miller said. "Tonight it did."

The Flyers, who had won three of four, took a 2-1 lead in the second period on goals by John LeClair and Mark Recchi 14 seconds apart.

Philadelphia squandered a chance to tie New Jersey atop the Atlantic Division and the eastern Conference. The Devils lost 3-2 at Pittsburgh.

Ottawa, which took the season series with Philadelphia 2-0-2, moved within three points of idle Toronto in the race for the Northeast Division title.

LeClair's 38th goal was set up by Eric Desjardins, who was named Flyers captain on Monday. Desjardins replaced Eric Lindros, who is out at least another month with a concussion.

"Eric is not with the team right now and when he comes back, he's part of the team," LeClair said.

Igor Kravchuk tied it 2-2 at 10:51 of the third and Miller scored the winner at 13:37 when he shoveled a backhander past goalie John Vanbiesbrouck.

"Kravchuk's power-play goal killed us," LeClair said. "We controlled the whole game."

Miller added an insurance goal after Marian Hossa found him open in the slot at 16:45 on a power play.

"I feel I can contribute to teams at this level," Miller said. "You try not to make any mistakes, work as hard as you can and utilize your assets."

Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson added an empty-net goal at 18:36. Radek Bonk also scored for the Senators.

The Flyers outshot Ottawa 18-5 in the first period but the Senators scored the lone goal when Bonk took Hossa's rebound and beat a sprawling Vanbiesbrouck.

Philadelphia finished with a 32-24 shots advantage.
