CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -- Jarome Iginla is leading the Calgary Flames back into playoff contention. Iginla scored once and added three assists to help the Calgary Flames beat the Atlanta Thrashers 5-2 Saturday night. Iginla's four-point night was a career high and extended his point streak to 13 games during which he has 10 goals and 12 assists. "This time of year, we needed the two points and it doesn't matter whether it's the best team or an expansion team," Iginla said. "We know we have to have the wins now if we want to find ourselves in the playoffs." Jason Wiemer, Valeri Bure, Marc Savard and Rene Corbet also scored for Calgary, which closed within two points of idle Colorado for eighth place in the Western Conference. After his assists helped Calgary build a 4-0 lead, Iginla capped his night in the third period by snapping a pass from Andreas Johansson past Norm Maracle at 12:51. "Iggy is a guy that when he's around the puck and moving his feet, he can be a scary guy," Flames coach Brian Sutter said. Nelson Emerson and Ray Ferraro scored in the third for the Thrashers, who lost for the 14th time in 15 games. "Some games you lose and it's not frustrating because you played pretty well but tonight, we didn't match their work ethic and that's disappointing," Ferraro said. Wiemer opened the scoring at 5:05 when he blindly slid a backhander past Maracle from a sharp angle. Bure made it 2-0 at 8:37 of the first, on a power play, with his 31st goal. "The name of the game tonight was specialty teams, the power play got a couple of goals and we killed all our penalties," Sutter said. Midway through the second, Andrei Nazarov missed the net on a shot but the puck rebounded off the end boards and out the other side. Savard swatted it past Maracle at 13:19 for his 15th. "We're 60 games in now and there comes a time when playing close is not quite good enough," Ferraro said. "You have to demand more of yourself because if you don't, you learn to expect to lose and that can never be the case." Fred Brathwaite made 21 saves for his 20th win.
