EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) --Tommy Salo and the Edmonton Oilers are making themselves right at home.

Salo stopped Mike Sillinger on a penalty shot in the second period as Edmonton beat Tampa Bay 5-1 on Friday night, extending the Lightning's winless streak to 10 games.

Ryan Smyth and Dan Cloutier
Edmonton's Ryan Smyth beat Tampa Bay goalie Dan Cloutier at 8:36 of the first period to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead.
"Their goaltender played a heck of a game and we gave up too many chances," Sillinger said. "I had a penalty shot at 3-0. If I had scored, it might have been a different outcome."

The Oilers are 5-0-3 in their last eight home games and 10-3-7 overall at Skyreach Centre. They have six games remaining on an eight-game homestand.

"We've established something here," Smyth said. "We seem to play better at home. We're more confident."

Salo made 27 saves to improve to 12-12-8 and lower his goals-against average to 2.30.

"That's the best goaltending we've played against," Sillinger said. "We had breakaways, my penalty shot and four 2-on-1s."

Todd Marchant, Ryan Smyth, Rem Murray, Ethan Moreau and Bill Guerin scored goals, and Mike Grier matched his career high with three assists.

Fredrik Modin scored for Tampa Bay, 0-8-2 in its last 10 games.

Marchant opened the scoring off a rebound at 6:09 of the first period, and Smyth added his 16th goal of the season at 8:36.

Murray made it 3-0 on a power-play at 5:31 of the second period, and Moreau scored with 4:56 left in the period.

Modin spoiled Salo's shutout bid at 6:19 of the third, and Guerin completed the scoring with 6:32 to go.
