BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Bruins keep getting the point.

Jason Allison scored his second goal of the game at 6:50 of the third period Saturday night, lifting the Boston Bruins to a 2-2 tie with the New Jersey Devils.

"I feel useless, like I'm letting the team down when I don't play," Allison said. "I might as well give it a go until I decide one way or the other on surgery."

This was the third straight overtime game for the Bruins, who are 0-5-2 in their last seven, and have only two wins in 16 games.

"We have a terrible streak going right now, but I think we are turning the corner," said Bruins goalie Byron Dafoe.

Allison missed the last three games with a wrist injury and is also seeking a contract extension. He will decide next week whether to have surgery that would force him to miss at least three months.

"You rely on your wrist a lot for taking draws, stickhandling and shooting, but most importantly strength," Devils defenseman Scott Stevens said. "Allison and Thornton give the Bruins two formidable lines and it would be a big loss for them if he is out."

Patrik Elias gave the Devils a 2-1 lead midway through the second, when he slid the puck past Dafoe. Elias has four goals in three games.

The Devils are unbeaten in their last four, and had the best opportunity in overtime when Claude Lemieux was robbed by Dafoe with 30 seconds remaining.

Boston erased a third-period lead for the third time this season against New Jersey, despite the Devils' 11-0-2 record when leading after two.

Allison tied the game 1-1 when he redirected a Kyle McLaren wrist shot through Martin Brodeur's legs at 15:45 of the first. Brodeur made 23 saves.

"They are a team that is trying to look for a break," Brodeur said. "It is important to match intensity, when you are playing against desperate teams."

Anson Carter had two assists for the Bruins.

The Bruins didn't register a shot on goal until 12 minutes into the first period.

Scott Niedermayer gave the Devils a 1-0 lead 22 seconds into the game when he knocked Dafoe down in the crease and backhanded a Bobby Holik rebound into the net.

"That goal was definitely goaltender interference," Bruins coach Pat Burns said.

The goal was Niedermayer's 300th NHL point.

Dafoe made 31 saves for Boston, which has won only one of its last 10 home games.
