The Jets head north to Buffalo as this always-entertaining AFC East rivalry is renewed once again.

While Buffalo still owns a 44-33 edge in this original AFL series, prevailing in 18 of the last 23 meetings between the clubs dating back to the teams' second clash in 1987, the Jets were the dominant team a year ago. Last season they swept the Bills for the first time since 1994. In Week 10 at East Rutherford (Week 10), Jets QB Vinny Testaverde threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns (1 INT) and the New York defense limited the Buffalo attack to four field goals as Bill Parcells' club outgained their guests in total yardage, 398-182, and snapped a six-game losing streak to the Bills thanks to an impressive 34-12 victory.

Six weeks later on a Saturday afternoon at Orchard Park (Week 16), Testaverde threw for just 184 yards but for a pair of scores as the Jets wrapped up their first-ever AFC East title with a 17-10 win.

Despite last year's victory in Buffalo, the Jets are just 3-8 in their last 11 visits to Buffalo dating back to 1988.

Numbers: Including playoffs, the Jets have allowed just 176 points in 13 wins (17 or fewer points in 10 of those contests) while giving up 167 points in six losses in their last 19 games dating back to '98. The Jets have committed just 16 turnovers in 13 wins, 21 turnovers in 6 losses dating back to '98, including playoffs.

The Bills have committed two or more turnovers in 28 of their last 42 games, including playoffs, dating back to '96, turning over the football 93 times in those 42 contests. Including playoffs, the Bills allowed 15 touchdown passes in their last 7 games dating back to '98 (2 or more TD passes in 6 of those contests), after giving up just 15 touchdown passes in their first 11 contests in '98.

Things To Look For: Now it's Rick Mirer's turn to become Jeff Hostetler or Vinny Testaverde for Bill Parcells as the Green and White finds itself in dire straits after one game. Then again, the Jets' defense didn't exactly rise to the occasion last week against New England as Patriots' receivers ran roughshod through New York's secondary. And here comes Bills' WRs Eric Moulds, Andre Reed, Peerless Price, etc.

Etc.: Including a victory in Super Bowl XXV, Bill Parcells is 7-8 lifetime vs. the Bills (1-2 with Giants, including a replacement loss in '87, 4-4 with Patriots, 2-2 with Jets). The Jets are just 9-20 in their last 29 games vs. divisional competition dating back to 1995, but are 7-2 vs. AFC East rivals dating back to '98.

Buffalo is 30-12 in the month of August/September since '88 (2-6 since 1997). The Bills are 77-21 at home (including 9-1 in playoffs) since '88. They are 63-30 (including 3-1 in playoffs) vs. AFC East competition since '88, however they are just 21-21 vs. divisional foes since 1994 (including playoffs). Bills' WR Andre Reed (893) needs 7 catches to become just the 3rd player in NFL history with 900 career receptions. Reed (12,598) needs 123 yards to tie Art Monk (12,721) for 5th place on the NFL's all-time receiving yardage list.
