The Chiefs make their first regular-season appearance in Chicago since 1990 as these clubs battle for just the eighth time. While the Bears own a 4-3 edge in the series standings, Kansas City posted a 14-10 triumph in 1996 at Arrowhead Stadium in the latest clash between the clubs. The Chiefs are 1-2 lifetime at Soldier Field, their last regular-season appearance in Chicago resulting in a 21-10 victory in 1990. Numbers: After giving up just 63 points in their first five games (4-1), the Chiefs allowed 300 points in their last 11 contests (3-8) in '98. The Chiefs committed 29 turnovers in their last 12 games in '98. Including playoffs, the Chiefs have scored 525 points in 20 wins, 187 points in 13 losses dating back to '97. Since 1993 (including playoffs), Chiefs' quarterbacks have thrown 90 touchdown passes compared to just 28 interceptions in 64 victories, while throwing 31 TD passes and 55 interceptions in 38 defeats. Including playoffs, Chiefs have totaled 54 takeaways in 20 wins, 15 takeaways in 13 losses dating back to '97. In their last 48 games (1996-98), six Bears' quarterbacks (since-departed QBs Erik Kramer, Dave Krieg, Steve Stenstrom and Rick Mirer and Moses Moreno, as well as Shane Matthews) have amassed a 15-33 record, throwing 46 TD passes, 53 interceptions and while being sacked 95 times. The Bears have committed two or more turnovers in 23 of their last 32 contests dating back to '97--committing 48 turnovers in their last 19 games dating back to '97. Including playoffs (82 games), Bears have allowed 471 points in 34 wins (13.9 PPG), 1,352 points in 48 losses (28.2 PPG) the last 5 seasons (1994-98). Things To Look For: A pair of once-proud franchises look to pick up the pieces as the Chiefs play their first game in the 1990s without Marty Schottenheimer, while the Bears look to rebuild with Dick Jauron. Under new head coach Gunther Cunningham, Kansas City's defense figures to rebound following an off-year and could get off to a good start against Bears' QB Shane Matthews--Chicago's starter for now. Etc.: Since 1989, Chiefs are 29-9 vs. NFC teams. The Bears are 32-22 in September since 1985, but are just 9-20 in their last 29 September outings dating back to '92.
