You've got questions; Ashley's got answers

Q: As you may have heard, Tennessee's Donte Stallworth ran like a 4.23 40-yard dash at his pro day last week. How do you react to that? How does that change your approach for your pro workouts?
Dan Christiansen
Knoxville, Tenn.

AL: Honestly, I was happy for Donte. I got to know him a bit at the combine, and he's a great guy. I wanted to give him a call and congratulate him, but I left his number back in Hawaii. As for how that affects me, I don't worry about it. I just want to go out in my workouts and do what I can do. I'm not competing against Donte Stallworth or Jabar Gaffney or Antonio Bryant. I'm competing against myself.

With that, I'd be lying if I said I didn't pay some attention to their workouts to hear what they do, but it's more curiosity than it is competition. As I've said before, as long as I get picked in the draft and have a spot in the NFL next year, I'll be happy.

Q: You played in the run-and-shoot offense at Hawaii under coach June Jones. Do you think this style of play will help or hurt you when you get to the pros? Why?
Dean Yanohira
Honolulu, Hawaii

AL: I think it will help me, because we ran a lot of the routes they run in the NFL and made a lot of the same reads and stuff that they make in the NFL. It will help in that sense. It will hurt, though, because we didn't block too much in college. And in the NFL, blocking is a big part of the offense for receivers. So that's something I'm picking up. But I like to block.

Q: I know you're just getting started in your career, but have you given any thought as to what you want to do after football? Also, do you have any school left?
John
Charlotte, N.C.

AL: Shoot. After football, I want to be a high school teacher and a high school football coach. I want to teach history. I guess you could say I'm kind of a history buff. That was my major in college. As for school, I have about a year and a half left. And I don't know yet what my plans will be to go back and get my degree. But I'm going to do it, without question. My parents are on me about it already.

Send in your questions and Lelie will answer a few every week.
