The Depth Chart: Best owners to play for

By John Clayton
ESPN.com

Editor's note: Every Friday during the offseason, ESPN.com will compile a list of the best or worst things about the NFL. This week, ESPN's Merril Hoge lists the best owners to play for.

Click here to see user feedback.

Merril Hoge's best owners to play for
1 Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys
Hoge's take: Despite his tendency to meddle in areas he doesn't belong, he ultimately cares about his players and tries to accommodate them in every fashion.
2 Dan Rooney, Pittsburgh Steelers
Hoge's take: He is as honest and fair of a man as there is in sports.
3 Wellington Mara, New York Giants
Hoge's take: He's truly passionate about the game of football and able to transfer that passion throughout the organization.
4 Paul Allen, Seattle Seahawks
Hoge's take: He has done a great job of hiring good football people and letting them turn the team around.
5 Art Modell, Baltimore Ravens
Hoge's take: His true ownership qualities came out during Super Bowl week. He didn't put the premium on winning the Super Bowl. He put it on enjoying the trip to the game. He made sure all his players and coaches enjoyed their time, after spending so long trying to get there.
