Feb. 6: ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not made a decision on the new head coach, and possibly might interview two assistants involved in the Super Bowl. Ravens defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis is considered a strong candidate, but Steelers offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey and former Chargers offensive coordinator Norv Turner remain in the mix. Lewis denied published reports saying the Bucs are close to naming him. "I do not have the job," Lewis said in the Sunday edition of the Baltimore Sun. Rams defensive coordinator Lovie Smith and Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis could become candidates after the Super Bowl. Raiders general manager Bruce Allen told The Tampa Tribune the Bucs have not contacted him about Jon Gruden, who has one more year left on a contract with Oakland. Weis is also being courted by the Carolina Panthers for their offensive coordinator position. |
