Users sound off on Power Rankings

Below are some of the responses we received. We'll post more later in the week.

You know nothing
Why do people still get so upset about where you guys rank their team? By now everyone should realize that you know nothing about football. Look at the Rams. "They're No. 1!!!

No, wait, they lost. O.K., so they're No. 4!!!

Uh oh, they lost again. We'll drop them to No. 12, even though the team that just beat them is still only No.18.

Yeah, that makes sense. What's that you say? They lost AGAIN? Better only drop them two spots, even though they haven't been in control at any point in any game this season. Yeah, you're the experts.

Big-time mad in the Big Easy
How do the Saints drop a spot? What logic does that fall under? Hmm, the Saints, despite starting poorly against the Bears, played 60 minutes of football and came back. Hmm, the Eagles, despite having a big halftime lead, forgot that there were two more quarters and BLEW IT in week one. So they're a better team than the Saints how? Oh, I realize Donovan McNabb is great and all, but which TEAM is really better after three weeks?

see that New Orleans still doesn't get any love in this power ranking, beating three quality teams. Last week the Bears, barely squeaking by there first two opponents, were one rank hire than the Saints. New Orleans beat them. Now the Eagles are rank hire. What does New Orleans have to do to get some real respect. They deserve to be in the top three of this power ranking. New Orleans has the speed on both sides of the ball to beat Oakland on any given Sunday or Monday, and Denver will only go as far as Griese can take them. Which is ?.

Overrated
I know the power rankings aren't directly reflective of the teams record, since strength of schedule and general play should count, but why place the Steelers and the Rams at 13 and 16 respectively? Neither has shown any reason this season to warrant placing them over the bottom feeders, and the ranking is solely on "what could be" and expectations before the season started. I'm a Cowboys fan and right now I'm wanting a little more company at the bottom.

Pittsburg, 0 and 2, ranked No. 13? St. Louis, 0 and 3, ranked No. 16? Who is providing the formula for the rankings, Terry Bradshaw and Vince Ferragamo? I realize schedule strength has much to do with how high or low a team may sit on these types of lists. But prognosticators across the country, from sports writers to couch potatoes, never predicted Carolina at 3 and 0. It just goes to show how overrated power rankings are. Good thing we don't have a Super Bowl Championship Series(SBCS) determining who plays the last week of January.

Looking for respect
Let's see: Denver needs to recover an onsides kick to keep the Bills at bay at home. They're ranked 4. And Buffalo is ranked 19th. With 2 teams without a win in front of them.

I would bet the Bills could beat the Giants by two TD's, yet the Giants are 14th. Ditto the Titans.

You guys aren't showing your bias toward major markets AGAIN are you?

Carolina blues
How in the world can you still rank Carolina so low?!?!? They have the 2nd best defense in the NFL! They are third in points allowed with 28, second in points per game at 9.3, second in yards per game at 220.3, second in sacks with 13 and first in interceptions at seven! I understand the teams they beat have a combined record of 0-8, but Carolina is actually winning! And they are getting it done on D which you have to do to win ball games! After we beat the Pack on Sunday, Carolina better be at least Top 10!

We can't either
I can't believe you guys get paid for this.

Longmont, Colo.

Drop the Bengals
After watching parts of the Green Bay/Detroit game and all of the Atlanta/Cincinatti matchup, I'm at a loss as to how you can put Cincinatti ABOVE Detroit on your rankings. Detroit played valiantly and almost pulled out an upset. The Bengals looked like they just wanted to sit back and enjoy the rout!
