Who will be this year's surprise team?
 Andrea Kremer |
Kansas City Chiefs
A lot will depend on Tony Gonzalez being football shape and remaining healthy. But I believe Trent Green is primed for his first truly healthy year since his major knee injury, and Priest Holmes should prove that last year was no fluke. Johnnie Morton was also an important pickup and will give the offense plenty of punch.

 Merril Hoge |
Cincinnati Bengals
They have addressed an area that could make them a top-five defense -- their corner situation. Also, I believe their passing game, although it has struggled, will be much better. Their turnovers and problems will be gone. The Bengals have a ground game with Corey Dillon. He will create chances for them to make big plays in the passing game.

 Mike Golic |
Indianapolis Colts
They were 6-10 a year ago. You know what you are getting out of their offense, with Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James, but their defense gave up the most points in the league. If they could improve their points-allowed ranking from a year ago, they would make a huge improvement. And I think that will happen now that Tony Dungy is in Indianapolis and can focus on the defense.

Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs will win the AFC West. Tony Gonzalez will be back. Priest Holmes will be solid once again. Trent Green will be better than he was last year, when he threw 24 interceptions. The Chiefs picked up Johnnie Morton, who is one of the league's finer receivers. And now rookie defensive tackle Ryan Sims has finally ended his holdout. They will surprise a lot of teams.

 Sean Salisbury |
Cleveland Browns
I think they will be an AFC wild-card team. I like the way their defense flows to the football, and they force turnovers. They have a running back now in William Green who can shoulder some of the load, even though he is young. Kevin Johnson was signed to an extension. But most importantly, Tim Couch will take his game to a different level and have a bust-out season. And Butch Davis is one of the league's good coach. I like the way they play. Davis could be the coach of the year.

 Mark Malone |
Cincinnati Bengals
They still have Corey Dillon running the ball, and the QB job has gone to Gus Frerotte. The Bengals have continued to get better and better defensively; they were ninth last year in total defense. They played strong late in the season and lost some close games. Peter Warrick has another year under his belt. The Bengals could sneak up and win nine or 10 games and find themselves in the playoffs. They are as good a candidate as any team.
