Inside the Playbook:Rams at Saints

This is the high-low stretch pattern. It's a great play against zone coverage. In this pattern, Aaron Brooks will never pass up the short receiver to get to the long receiver. Brooks will see Joe Horn first if he's open, and he'll get the ball if he is. It's supposed to be a five-step drop, but if Horn shows quickly, Brooks will get rid of it just as fast.

If the linebackers jump, Horn -- and you actually hope for that many times -- the other receiver will be open over the top, and he'll come open right smack in Brooks' face. But Horn is their leading receiver, and if he shows, he gets the ball.
