Kicker will rest all week, miss next week's game

Associated Press

Tampa Bay Bucanners: Kicker Martin Gramatica will be held out of practice and next week's preseason game at St. Louis because of a sore groin.

Bucs coach Jon Gruden said Saturday that Gramatica will get treatment and work with a team trainer.

"I don't think it's going to be a problem," Gruden said. "We are very confident that we are doing the right thing in terms of getting him the proper treatment he needs and holding him out a week to 10 days to let him get himself mentally and physically ready to kick at his best.

"He's suffering from groin pain," the coach added. "We have looked at it carefully and we expect it to subside and have him ready to go full bore for the final two preseason games. Are we concerned? Obviously, yes. At the same time, we are confident that our training staff and Martin are on top on this."

Gramatica was not in uniform for Friday night's 20-19 exhibition win over the Miami Dolphins. He kicked a 37-yard field goal against the New York Jets in Tampa Bay's preseason opener but was not used on kickoffs.

Ralf Kleinmann, who missed a 25-yard field goal against the Dolphins, will fill in for Gramatica against the Rams on Aug. 18.

Seattle Seahawks: Linebacker Orlando Huff will miss the next three-to-four weeks with a strained right knee ligament.

Huff, a third-year pro who started seven games last season, was injured during the second quarter of Seattle's 20-7 exhibition victory over the San Diego Chargers on Saturday night.

Trainers treated his knee as Huff lay on the field with 4:56 before halftime. Huff grimaced as his knee was moved, but eventually stood and walked off the field.
