Tom Coughlin is out as the only head coach the Jacksonville Jaguars have ever known.

	Tom Coughlin is on his way out as the Jaguars coach after eight years at the helm.

League sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Monday that Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver fired Coughlin on Monday morning after eight years as general manager and coach. A news conference is expected at noon ET on Monday.

The Associated Press also reported Monday morning that a team source said that Coughlin was fired Monday.

Sources have told Mortensen that Weaver wants a replacement with head coaching experience. Topping his list of candidates is ex-Minnesota Vikings coach and current ESPN analyst Dennis Green; LSU coach Nick Saban, who has experience as an NFL assistant; and Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops.

Sunday, Weaver denied he had made any decision.

"I don't know where that is coming from, because I haven't talked to anyone in the league about anything,'' Weaver told the Florida Times-Union at halftime of Sunday's game.

The Jaguars coach said he expected to talk Monday with Weaver before a decision was made about his future.

"He hasn't given me any indication on what he's thinking,'' Coughlin said after a season-ending 20-13 loss to the Colts and a third straight losing season for the 6-10 Jaguars.

Coughlin, 56, said last week that he was "worried" about his future with Jacksonville. He is 72-64 with the Jaguars, but only 19-29 the last three years.

Coughlin has two more years remaining on his contract, which stipulates that the team buy him out or reach a settlement mutually agreeable to both sides if the Jaguars hire a GM or team official in charge of personnel decisions.

Coughlin is scheduled to meet with his players and assistant coaches, in separate sessions, Monday morning. There is no meeting with Weaver currently scheduled but the two men typically huddle to discuss the year two or three days after the season concludes.

Asked during his Monday news conference last week if he would be willing to be an assistant if he lost his job in Jacksonville, Coughlin simply walked away from the lectern and out of the room.
