After two TDs, Bettis leaves with sprained knee

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH -- Jerome Bettis sprained his left knee and left the game Monday night after scoring two first-half touchdowns for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Indianapolis Colts.

He ran one play in the third quarter before leaving. It was not immediately clear when he was hurt.

He scored on runs of 3 and 5 yards on consecutive Steelers' possessions as Pittsburgh opened a 21-0 lead. Bettis had 11 carries for 33 yards before going out.

Bettis is 38 yards from moving past O.J. Simpson into 11th place on the NFL career rushing list. He is 154 yards from overtaking John Riggins for 10th place.
