Dolphins will miss leading tackler

DAVIE, Fla. -- Linebacker Zach Thomas, the Miami Dolphins' leading tackler, will not play Sunday against Green Bay.

Thomas has been fitted with a cast for his injured right ankle. Thomas, who has a high ankle sprain, will be in the cast for a week to 10 days, which also puts his availability in question for Miami's Nov. 5 game at Detroit.

Thomas had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game, but the Dolphins downgraded him to out Friday.

He will be replaced by Larry Izzo, who has never started a game and has just one tackle in five seasons.

Thomas, a 1999 Pro Bowl selection who has led Miami in tackles the last four years, sprained his ankle Sept. 24 in a 10-3 victory over New England. He missed the next game against Cincinnati, but returned to start Oct. 8 in a 22-13 win over Buffalo.

Thomas aggravated the injury against the Bills and spent two weeks rehabilitating his ankle before Monday's 40-37 overtime loss to the New York Jets.
