Sunday, December 1 Hunter facing four-game suspension By Len Pasquarelli ESPN.com |

League and team sources confirmed Sunday that Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Javin Hunter faces a four-game NFL suspension after testing positive for Ephedra or one of its derivatives. The test is currently under appeal and, if not overturned, Hunter would become at least the fifth known league player this season to be suspended for an Ephedra-related offense. The NFL banned Ephedra last year and began testing for the stimulant this summer. "I'm not going to comment on it until I find out what happens with the appeal,'' Hunter said. "It's been lingering the whole season.'' A former Notre Dame standout, Hunter was chosen by the Ravens in the sixth round of the 2002 draft. The suspension would cost Hunter $52,951 in base salary. Hunter, 22, had played sparingly until recently, when injuries decimated the Baltimore wide receiver corps. He has five catches for 35 yards. Len Pasquarelli is a senior writer for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. |
