With a deal that could complete the team's offseason shopping list, the Tennessee Titans have reached agreement with free agent offensive lineman Aaron Graham, a five-year pro who will serve as the team's long-snapper. Details of the contract were not immediately available, but it is likely the deal is for one year and with a base salary of $650,000. Graham is expected to sign the contract when he reports Monday for the beginning of a minicamp. The addition of Graham probably ends the tenure of four-year veteran center Kevin Long with the team. Long was a part-time starter and also handled the long-snapping chores. The Titans two weeks ago signed unrestricted free agent Jeff Smith to start at center. Graham, 29, played the 2001 season with the Oakland Raiders, signed a few weeks into the campaign when the team was forced to juggle its lineup because of a season-ending knee injury to starting center Barret Robbins. The former Nebraska standout is regarded as a very steady long-snapper but he has also played from scrimmage in his career. During his first four NFL seasons, all spent with the Arizona Cardinals, he totaled 40 starts, including 29 in the 1998-99 seasons. He was chosen by the Cardinals in the fourth round of the 1996 draft, signed with Kansas City as a free agent in 2000, then was released by the Chiefs in camp and out of football for that entire season. For his career, Graham has appeared in 76 games. Len Pasquarelli is a senior writer for ESPN.com. |
