Every year, general managers paint a rosy picture on the June 1 list of cap casualties. They promote these transactions as almost a bonus draft of players. Well, get ready to be disappointed. Unless a team is looking for veteran receiver help, this June’s list of released players is going to be as short as it usually is. Still, the teams such as the Vikings, Bucs, Falcons and Chiefs will be bidding against one another for proven receivers such as Keenan McCardell, Derrick Alexander and Antonio Freeman. But the Bills, Jets and Redskins will have a hard time finding defensive tackles. The Redskins are among a few teams looking for guards, and that is going to be a hard position to fill. And for running backs, Jamal Anderson of the Falcons might be the only solution to those needs. Here is the expected list of potential June 1 casualties. The list is expected to be a little less than 30.
