Week 2 wrap-ups

Eagles 37, Redskins 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
The Eagles' defense showed from the start it had a handle on Steve Spurrier's offense, and with Donovan McNabb also playing well, this one was over by halftime. It can be shared by McNabb -- who passed for 292 yards and two TDs and ran for another score -- and Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, who owned Spurrier on this night.
UP NEXT: Redskins (1-1) at 49ers (1-1)   |    Eagles (1-1) vs. Cowboys (1-1)

Bears 14, Falcons 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Jay Feely missed from 45 yards with just over one minute left. Feely also missed from 50 yards earlier in the game. Brian Urlacher had a big game against Michael Vick. He recovered Vick's fumble, had two sacks and finished with 12 tackles. The Bears are going to look ugly and it might appear that they're lucky, but they have pretty good personnel.
UP NEXT: Bears (2-0) vs. Saints (2-0)   |    Falcons (0-2) vs. Bengals (0-2)

Browns 20, Bengals 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Gus Frerotte decided to see what it was like to be a lefty, lobbing a lefty pass into the arms of Kenard Lang. Lang returned it 71 yards to the 8 and set up a score that put the Browns up 17-0. Kelly Holcomb was impressive for the second straight game for the Browns, completing 17-of-30 passes for 198 yards and two TDs. If Couch is healthy, he should get his job back and have the opportunity to show what he can do.
UP NEXT: Browns (1-1) at Titans (1-1)   |    Bengals (0-2) at Falcons (0-2)

Cowboys 21, Titans 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
It might not have been over, but it certainly turned when Steve McNair suffered a sideline concussion running into an equipment trunk on the Dallas sideline midway through the second quarter. One week after a terrible performance against the Texans, Quincy Carter quieted his critics, throwing for 240 yards and two TDs in the victory. I'm not sold on Quincy Carter. He still makes too many bad decisions and doesn't look comfortable in the pocket.
UP NEXT: Cowboys (1-1) at Eagles (0-1)   |    Titans (1-1) vs. Browns (1-1)

Dolphins 21, Colts 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Peyton Manning's last-second pass to Qadry Ismail was broken up in the end zone. With a 21-3 lead, the Dolphins seemed in control of the game before allowing the Colts back in the game. Ricky Williams, has been as good as advertised for the Dolphins. He finished with 132 yards on 24 carries and 62 receiving yards and scored one touchdown. Only time will tell if Indy's D can consistently perform as it did today in the second half.
UP NEXT: Dolphins (2-0) vs. Jets (1-1)   |    Colts (1-1) at Texans (1-0)

Jaguars 23, Chiefs 16
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Trent Green hit Tony Gonzalez for a 12-yard TD with 2:35 left in the game. The play was reviewed, but it was ruled a TD. Fred Taylor and Mark Brunell both had big games. We'll give it to Brunell, who passed for 320 yards and tossed 2 TDs. The Jags stopped the run today, and the Chiefs didn't respond.
UP NEXT: Jaguars (1-1) -- bye week   |    Chiefs (1-1) at Patriots (2-0)

Saints 35, Packers 20
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Deuce McAllister sealed the victory for New Orleans with a 2-yard touchdown run that made it 35-20 at the 2-minute warning. Ricky Williams might be off to a good start for the Dolphins, but we're betting the Saints don't care. McAllister scored 2 TDs and went over 100 yards for the second straight week. (The Saints) knew Deuce was the real deal and that he potentially could carry a team far into the playoffs. .
UP NEXT: Saints (2-0) at Bears (2-0)   |    Packers (1-1) at Lions (0-2)

Patriots 44, Jets 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Victor Green returned a Vinny Testaverde interception 90 yards for a TD to give the Patriots a 27-0 lead. Tom Brady played another great game, but we'll give it to the Patriots defense, which held the Jets to 48 yards in the first half. They give opponents a wide variety of looks, offensively and defensively, and QB Tom Brady has looked terrific. They're the real deal.
UP NEXT: Patriots (2-0) vs. Chiefs (1-1)   |    Jets (1-1) at Dolphins (2-0)

Panthers 31, Lions 7
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Mike Minter returned a Joey Harrington interception 40 yards for a touchdown to put the Panthers up 24-7 in the third quarter. So maybe John Fox knew what he was doing when he named Rodney Peete his starter. Peete has already doubled last season's win total. If the fans aren't happy and you aren't winning, there will be some serious problems. Somebody has to pay, and usually it's the coach (Marty Mornhinweg).
UP NEXT: Panthers (2-0) at Vikings (0-2)   |    Lions (0-2) vs. Packers (1-1)

Buccaneers 25, Ravens 0
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Ravens fell behind 18-0 in the third quarter. The Bucs' defense, which gave up just six first downs the first three quarters. The Ravens are in a bit of trouble. They have quarterback problems and there are no big receiving threats. The defense isn't as fearsome as it was in Baltimore's Super Bowl year.
UP NEXT: Bucs (1-1) vs. Rams (0-2)    |    Ravens (0-2) BYE

Cardinals 24, Seahawks 13
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Frank Sanders caught a 4-yard TD pass late in the fourth quarter. Thomas Jones, who rushed for a career-best 173 yards. The Seahawks miss injured DT John Randle -- they need his leadership up front. I don't see much potential for improvement as the season progresses.
UP NEXT: Cardinals (1-1) vs. Chargers (2-0)   |    Seahawks (0-2) at Giants (1-1)

Giants 26, Rams 21
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
William Peterson of the Giants picked off Kurt Warner in the final two minutes. Kerry Collins, who set the pace by connecting on 14 of his first 15 pass attempts for the Giants. I don't think Kurt Warner's hand or thumb is the issue. The opponent's defense is dictating the tempo, but we're used to seeing Warner's Rams dictate tempo.
UP NEXT: Giants (1-1) vs. Seahawks (0-2)   |    Rams (0-2) at Bucs (1-1)

Bills 45, Vikings 39 (OT)
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
Peerless Price caught a 48-yard TD pass in overtime. You could say Price or Mike Hollis, but Drew Bledsoe and his career-high 463 yards gets the nod. The defense has been an Achilles heel for the Vikings in recent years. They have a new coordinator and a new system, but the defensive backfield is weak.
UP NEXT: Bills (1-1) at Broncos (2-0)   |    Vikings (0-2) vs. Panthers (2-0)

Chargers 24, Texans 3
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Chargers jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead. It was smooth sailing from there. Junior Seau, who spent much of the day in David Carr's face. Seau also had an interception that set up a touchdown. I believe we saw the best Houston's offense has to offer against Dallas last week. The party may be over now that the Texans are playing teams with tougher defenses.
UP NEXT:Texans (1-1) vs. Colts (1-1)   |    Chargers (2-0) at Cardinals (1-1)

Broncos 24, 49ers 14
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ... Eric Allen's analysis
The Broncos took a 24-7 lead in the fourth quarter on Brian Griese's TD toss to Scottie Montgomery. Mike Anderson and Brian Griese. Anderson gave the Broncos a big lift in the running game (95 yards and a receiving TD), and Griese played mistake-free ball while throwing a couple of scoring passes. J.J. Stokes or Tai Streets need to emerge as a second credible receiving threat for the 49ers. That's the only way to take the double-team heat off Terrell Owens.
UP NEXT:Broncos (2-0) vs. Bills (1-1)   |    49ers (1-1) vs. Redskins (1-0)

Raiders 30, Steelers 17
RECAP | BOX SCORE
It was over when ... Game ball goes to ...
Plaxico Burress' fumble was recovered by Rod Woodson with under six minutes to go, ending any chance the Steelers had to come back. Rich Gannon, who set career-highs for pass attempts (64) and completions (43).
