(Editor's note: Mississippi State sophomore LaToya Thomas, who led the SEC in scoring last season en route to landing a spot on the Kodak All-American team, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Dec. 4, 2000 And I'm back! This has been yet another exciting week at MSU. We had a huge win against Georgia Tech yesterday. It was a good game. Everyone stepped up BIG! Pookie (Keisha Stringfellow) balled out like I knew she could!
Well, we're getting ready to go on the road again. Wednesday, we leave for a Thursday game at Louisiana Tech. That'll be interesting. I'm looking forward to the challenge. Last year, we opened our home season with a win over the Lady Techsters right after they had beaten Tennessee. It was an important win for our program. You know what they say, "To be the best, play the best." On another note, I was so surprised today when I went into the Media Relations department and they showed me the latest copy of SLAM magazine. I was shocked to see a full-page picture of me. It's rare to see female players in SLAM, so I hope it has an effect on people. It's an honor to be pictured in SLAM. Not much else has changed since last week. I'm just trying to maintain. As usual, I've been hanging with my teammates, Courtney "Cornbread" Graham and KiKi Westerfield, just trying to have fun. Finals are approaching and it's time to buckle down. I have to make time for studying, which isn't always easy. Time management is key this time of year. Well, that's all folks. Holla -- Toya |
